What concepts of love are presented by the female characters in scene 3?

  1. They seem to think that you can learn to love someone just by looking at him. Juliet told her mother and her nurse that she will think about marrying Paris if she likes the way he looks. They do not seem to take personality into account at all.

  2. They think you can learn to love someone at will, probably due to the fact that you don't get to choose your husband. Therefore to be happier you learn to love them. They also only focus on looks, not personality.

  3. I think they show you should be careful about how you love, for if it is the wrong kind of love, it could end badly and someone would most likely get hurt.

  4. They make it clear that they think that love has nothing to do with personality! They probably think something like this in their head:

"If he is hot, than why not?"

I think it is awful how they think that way. And the fact they want to marry her off so very young! That would be illegal now-a-days. I think that if I had to be married at this very moment, I would run away and never look back. I feel bad she got put in that situation like that and that her family is so shallow.

  5. No even now it could be that way if the parents wanted it to. Anybody below the age of 18 can be married to anybody as long as the parents sign off and the kids don't have to have say. But I do agree, back then people never really got to know eachothers personalities unless they were ALREADY married or related, by blood or not. Or maybe they just say they know eachother more than they actually do??
