Juliet's father obviously loves his daughter, and only heir, and somewhat values her opinions. He wants Paris to woo his daughter and see if she will consent to marrying him in two years time, instead of just forcing her to marry Paris now. While he still wants Paris to be his son in law, he wants it to be partially Juliet's decision.
I couldn't agree more because, in my opinion, Juliet's father, , is a caring loving father. Though I don't agree with how young he thinks they should be married, I also know that he wants his daughter to be happy because in the second scene he said "All my children are dead except her; she is only hope I have in the world."
I think he want to help her, but he does it by over controlling her. He wants her with someone she doesn't love and probably doesn't want. He loves her, but he just is a tad bit over controlling.
I think that Juliet's father is a very nice man, who wants more for his daughter's future than her mother and the nurse. He wants her to have a chance to experience love. He will not force her, but it is not really his decision. The mother wants it, and since he is a nice man, he also doesn't want to argue with the wife to cause a family feud. I think that the dad is much more caring and compassionate than the mother and the nurse.
