I think that he feels very differently for Juliet than he does for Rosaline. When he adored Rosaline, he was always sad and depressed. Now that he likes Juliet, he seems much more upbeat and happy. Also, he seems to enjoy life a lot more than he used to.
When Romeo thought he loved Rosaline he "loved" her for her beauty, and it was only superficial. He was sad because she didn't love him, even though he only knew her for her beauty. Now that Romeo is in love with Juliet, he truly loves her. He would defy his parents and go against a deep hatred between their two families just to see her, where before he just shut himself up in his room when he liked Rosaline.
Romeo's head was so wrapped around her beauty I don't think he ever got the time to love who she is on the inside wheras. He starts to fall in love with Juliets personality AND looks.
I totally agree. He just wanted Rosaline for her looks, she could of been a killer and he wouldn't have cared, she's pretty and that's all that mattered. But, he met Juliet and maybe started liking her for her beauty on the outside, but then fell for her on the outside.
Now that I have finished act one, I think I understand what this question means a little better. I think that when he was in love with Rosaline, he was always so sad about what he thought he could not have. When he fell for Juliet, he became a little bit more happy and lively than he used to be.
